Arkansas Marriage Indexing Project

Volunteers are needed.




The Arkansas Genealogical Society is working with FamilySearch to compile a statewide index to Arkansas Marriages. There is currently no statewide marriage index. Working from home volunteers will be able to use digital images of historical documents available over the internet to create searchable indexes.

The index will be made available FREE OF CHARGE and those searching the index will be able to link to the digital image through FamilySearch and or from the Arkansas Genealogical Society's webpage at Arkansas Genealogy Society.

You will be assigned a username, password, and given instructions for the project.

To index records, all indexers must first download the FamilySearch Indexing program. To download the program:
     Go to familysearchindexing.org
     Click Install Now



At the moment we are indexing in Clay and Crittenden Counties. Many individuals that got their marriage license in these counties actually lived in a surrounding county. In an effort to make indexing the residence easier we have created lists of towns in surrounding counties. These lists are as complete as we could make them at the time. More will be added as they become necessary. These lists are in Word.
